LOCAL: Millennial Brewing - Mac & Cheese Street Festival [vegan options]

ree

In late June, Natalie and I attended a Mac & Cheese Street Festival hosted by Millennial Brewing Co. in Downtown Ft. Myers and we just HAD to tell you all about it! It was an extremely hot day and the festival was packed with people and dogs of all breeds. If you ask me, this was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

First, let's start off on why we went. Natalie is known as a "Mac & Cheese Sommelier" of sorts - she even has a certificate, I may or may not have made it!

So, we couldn't miss this event - she is a lover of all things mac & cheese.

The Food

When we decided to attend I was a little skeptical because .. a vegan .. at a mac & CHEESE festival. I was expecting to grab a drink or two with my fiancée, Rob - while Natalie tried a few different dishes from vendors.

OH BOY, was I pleasantly surprised! The first two vendors were 100% vegan restaurants, not to mention almost every.single.truck. had a vegan option. This was shocking, because - there aren't a lot of well-known vegan spots in the Fort Myers Metro area. Don't get me wrong, there are a few (which we will review, stay tuned) but never had I expected everyone to be so accommodating.

Anyway, we stopped by the two vegan pop-ups, Seasoned Green and Wandering Roots.

So, from Seasoned Green we tried the:

-Buffalo Ranch Fried Mac n' Cheeze

-Mac n' Cheezeburger Crunch Wrap

-Strawberry Shortcake Donut

MAN. Let me say, Seasoned Green blew our minds! The fried mac n' cheeze was so delicious I went back and ordered a second helping! They made their mac n' cheeze with a cashew nut base, rolled them into balls, coated them, fried them and then topped it with homemade vegan ranch and vegan buffalo. It was out of this world. Rob ordered the crunch wrap and that was really good too. The crunch wrap had sautéed onions, a meatless burger patty, vegan cheeze shreds, mac n' cheeze and a bunch of other toppings all wrapped in a tortilla and pressed. I was lucky I got to try it because Rob scarfed this down!

Natalie has a bit of a sweet tooth, so she ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Donut. She said this was one of the best vegan desserts she's had! It was a fresh glazed donut with strawberries and a fluffy plant-based whipped "cream". This combination made a one-of-a-kind dessert!

From Wandering Roots we tried:

-V-Street Fries

ree

These fries were absolute YUM! They were golden brown french fries topped with pico de gallo, jalapeños, cilantro, corn, vegan queso, and cheeze! So if you are a Mexican food + cheeze lover - this is a great combo! Maybe it's because I love carbs, but I honestly would've liked to see maybe some Mac n' cheese dumped on top (because mac n' cheese festival ), but don't get me wrong they were delicious regardless!

Drinks!

While we were at the festival we also tried a variety of adult beverages, but the awesome thing about Millennial Brewing is that they have something for EVERYONE. Want a beer? - grab a cold one. Want a glass of wine/mixed drink? - got you covered. Don't drink? Well, they have a separate area for Kombucha, Kratom, Kava and 0-proof mixed drinks! - kratom ("elixir") is my weakness. We grabbed a few drinks after we ate and enjoyed a nice game of "water pong" and pool!

'Till Next Time!

The best part though, is this is a recurring event. You can bring your entire family (including fur-babies)! We will definitely be attending the next time around to enjoy the best vegan Mac n' cheese around. We hope to see you there!
