Avocado Toast has gained and maintained its popularity over the years. A staple in every ”health-freaks” diet, this nutritious meal is extremely versatile. Avocados are a healthy, high-fat fruit that has many different nutrients like Potassium, Vitamin B, Magnesium and about 3 grams of protein.
Because avocados are high in fat and fiber, they are enough to make you feel full, but not overly full to where you feel uncomfortable. Avocado toast can also be one of the most healthiest options on you local breakfast-spot's menu!
This food is extremely versatile and can be enjoyed in so many different ways. Today, I'm going to share a few of my favorite ways to enjoy it. Avocado toast can be both sweet and savory, depending on what you like.
The Bread
When making avocado toast I like to use a dense bread, so it doesn't get soggy. I like OneDegree breads, if I'm in a hurry and using regular sandwich bread. But, if I have the time, I like to slice up some ciabatta or sourdough bread, and toast in a pan with a bit of olive oil. This makes the bread nice and crunchy and postpones the bread from getting soggy to quick. While this is toasting, I get my avocado base ready.

Avocado Base
For the base, I take one Hass avocado, and scoop out the flesh of the fruit into a small bowl. To this I add, pink Himalayan sea salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes. I mash this up until it is like a puree (if I have time - otherwise I scoop the avocado right on the bread and use a fork to mash - and put the seasonings on top). Once the bread is toasted, I spread the base on and prepare my toppings.

Toppings
There are so many different combinations of toppings for avocado toast! I'll list out a few of my favorites!
- My go to toppings are:
Cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, red chili flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Other favorites of mine are:
Thinly sliced mango, and pomegranate seeds.
or
Thinly sliced cucumber, red chili flakes and olive oil.
or
Salsa/fresh pico de gallo
or
Micro-greens, lemon zest, red chili flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
I try to incorporate seeds into as many foods as I can since they are packed with nutrients and can give an added boost of energy. I frequently put, hemp seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds on top of my toasts as well.

Classic Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
1 haas avocado
1 or 2 slices of bread of choice (look for a denser bread)
cucumber slices (about 4-6 per slice of bread)
cherry tomatoes (about 3, per slice of bread, cut in half)
olive oil
red chili flakes
salt and pepper
Procedures:
Toast your bread of choice either in the toaster (for a quicker option) or in a pan with a bit of olive oil for a nice crust.
While your bread is toast, slice your avocado and scoop out the green fruit. Either scoop directly on to your bread and mash with a fork, or add to a small bowl and season to taste with the salt and pepper.
Spread your avocado mash onto the bread and top with cucumber, tomatoes, red chili flakes and a drizzle of olive oil (feel free to use any toppings of choice, get creative!).
Enjoy immediately.
